I do this poster with an upset feeling about the gig held by Koalisi Nada. i’m upset because this gig being driven by the host cafe, so that the title of this gig became silly; “My Party” :(
So I decided to make the artwork as sinical as my feeling :p

On medio 2010, Efek Rumah Kaca create a new branch; recordings. It called “Jangan Marah Records”. And to promote this new branch, Harlan Bin and Yuraii decided that it’ll be good to make a tour. Fortunately, they contact me to make the tour poster. But this time i want an exchange, i said that i want to be one of the tour member. and they said yes! :D
The poster I made are combination of the tour member: Efek Rumah Kaca (the tree symbol on the guitar), Zeke Khaseli (the man), The Kucruts (the logo on Zeke’s head), Bangkutaman (symbol IX on the guitar), and Sir Dandy (the shattered guitar).
Unfortunately, due to the sponsorship agreement, the background colour has to be converted to red.
Fortunately, the tour went well. I also write a superlong writing about this tour. You can read it here. Trust me! it is super loooong writing!
Fortunately (again), this design end up printed on t-shirt by one of big clothing company based on Jogja: starcross :)
ps. on the tour, Zeke told me that at first he tought that this artwork made by Sir Dandy :p

On my campus, they have this program called “KKN”, where we as their college student ordered to pay some contribution to the society. Fortunately, on this program, me and Omink are on the same team :)
Me, Omink and my team decided to make a program in the “Sanggar Sahabat Anak”, a non-profit organization who dedicated their program in helping poor kids. We spend about one month there, giving what we can give to them; playing, helping them doing their homework, and playing again.
on the final day, we decide to have this special. we create an accoustic music  performance by Malang’s finest band (Get Panic, My Beautiful Life, The Magnificent Louie, The Illusion, and Snickers and the Chicken Fighters). not only that, we also collaborating with, Mamipo (Malang’s photograph community) and Mamograph (Malang’s lomography community) to make a photo exhibition there. but the most special thing is that, the children from SSA also taking part on this show, they performing music show! The event end up fun!

Poster I made for Koalisi Nada’s gig. I don’t have any meaning given in this poster. But, instead of meaning, i also propose to Eko (koalisi nada’s leader) a logo for them. the logged tree typed “Koalisi Nada”.
The logged tree actually a homage i made for my design hero that i found on  my highschool years, unfortunately, i forgot what’s the name. poor me. hail him :)

// How I Met My Bike :)//

On 2008, my college lecturer who went to Australia to earn her PhD tittle send me an email. On the mail, she ask me to help her design a poster about her research. He asked me because we already involved together on some design-program competition back on Malang before. She also tell me about her research, which focusing on organizational communication between big company and it’s worker in Indonesia. A few days later, I propose her my presentation, which capture the worker’s children view about the relations of the big company with their parents. here is my proposal (i took those picture in the alley of kertopamuji, malang);

But my lecturer disagree with the concept, she like the colour theme and the tagline, but she disagree with the picture and my point of view. She demand it to capture more about the worker’s feelings. So i decide to make “a set”, with the help of my friend, Aldi to be the “worker” model. The set is not a professional set, it just Aldi’s room, some formal shirt, Aldi’s junior high school tie, a short chair and my pocket camera. Which bring my lecturer to this;

My lecturer love my new presentation. After a few adjustment about the layout and the detail, here is the final view of the poster:

Some weeks later, one of my friend in college suddenly congrats me for something I didn’t understand. He told me that he read that i won something on the campus’s newsletter. Feeling confused, i go to the campus library to search the news, but i didn’t find the issue. Getting more curious, i go to the campus’s PC corner to search the internet. Happily, i found this:

After checking the prasetya UB, i also check my email, then I found out that my lecturer already told me about this news:

“Dear Hilmi, Congratulation, our poster get award!!! See Hilmi…. You’ve got it….

Thank you so much for your help… I hope this is going to be your precise experience in your life…. This is not the end…..just the begining.. Keep creative and keep working….

See you in the next project

Best regards,

Pia”

That will be the most exiting thing that come to my email by far! :D

Ps: i also won some money from this event. The money is not that big, but it’s enough to buy me a united BMX bike that will be my first personal ride
